I've always loved character houses, but the down side of these beautiful homes, is that the kitchens and bathrooms are usually small and have little space for storage.  I've had the opportunity to recently visit two "old-timer" homes in the Alberni Valley, where Ben Emslie of HB Creative Solutions has redesigned and renovated the kitchen spaces.  The results are fabulous.  I actually lived in one of the homes where he completely redid the kitchen and I must say it was absolutely gorgeous!  

Recently I posted some photos I took for Ben of the other character home where he renovated the kitchen.  Although these photos were posted in a previous blog, I'm posting a few of the images again, because the homeowners were so delighted with Ben's work, that they offered to provide a testimonial for this blog.   Chuck and Cecilia were ecstatic and couldn't be happier with the work that Ben did for them.  Here is their testimonial followed by a few photos of their beautiful new kitchen.

Tools of the Trade || Port Alberni Custom Cabinetry

When it comes to what women want in design features for their home, it's probably safe to say that kitchens and bathrooms are at the top of the list.  I recently visited the shop at HB Creative Solutions, and from a woman’s (and photographer’s) perspective, I was impressed!  I’m certainly not an expert when it comes to sophisticated shop tools, but I was very impressed with the shop, which was incredibly organized and tidy!  The array of equipment and tools made for interesting subject matter to photograph, as I looked for unique angles and reflections to get some photos of what some might call ordinary, every-day shop items and tools.  I was also quite fascinated to learn just how Ben Emslie, at HB Creative Solutions, approaches his custom design work and projects.  From start to finish it is clear that he takes great pride in his work.  Ben’s attention to detail and quality craftsmanship are evident throughout his workshop, his custom designs and the construction of his projects.  He uses state-of-the-art equipment and a sophisticated computer program which helps him with the design process.  He can create a two-dimensional kitchen design on his computer, and then easily convert it to a three dimensional design.  For anyone who can’t visualize what their kitchen or bathroom construction or renovation might look like, this is a great feature!  Ben showed me a recent kitchen renovation floor plan, and with a click of a key, changed it to a beautiful 3-D plan!   I am anxious to take the next step, to photograph the kitchen renovation itself when it is completed.  For anyone who is looking to renovate their kitchen or bathroom, or have a custom-designed construction project on their wish list, it is definitely worth a visit with Ben at HB Creative Solutions.  Let him show you what he can do!  Here are a few shop pictures to share with you.

Here’s another look at a kitchen renovation by Ben Emslie at HB Creative Solutions.   Throughout this kitchen, it was clear that Ben brought to this project his skill, experience, design sense, and professionalism.  His craftsmanship is clearly evident with every custom project he completes - from the planning stages and ideas, to his attention to detail, and finally to his meticulous construction.  If you know Ben, I’m sure you’ll agree that his friendly nature and good humor brings a welcome personal approach to his work, which is appreciated by all of his clients!  This kitchen renovation is gorgeous, and for the owners, will be a tremendous joy to live and cook in!
